The Presidential Platform
Hi team,
March is probably about the busiest month on the triathlon calendar so we've had people out at various events almost every weekend. We've had some great race results recently posted on the club Facebook page and Instagram from some of our elite stars Felicity Sheedy-Ryan and Rahul Jegatheva as well as the rest of us plebs. We had people out at Shoalwater, Mullaloo, Karri Valley, Freo Tri amongst other races. It was great to see Channa back racing after a long time out with injury and coming back with a bang, winning her age group.
We'll be holding our end of season windup on Sunday 19th March, most likely from 2pm. Keep an eye out for details around the end of April or start of May. This is always a fun way to finish up the season and celebrate what we've achieved. All welcome - partners, families, swimmers. We will keep training through the offseason. Plenty of us use the triathlon offseason to do some running or cycling races.
Nick T and a few others will be selling snags 12:30-2:30pm today, Monday 1st April at the pool. If you're around, feel free to go and grab a sausage or give them a hand.
There will be a few days over Easter where the formal training sessions won't be running - there will most likely be some group rides or swims organised. Get on board or feel free to suggest something if you get in early enough!
Don't miss Sarah's IMNZ and Lottie's National Youth Champs race reports.
And of course, congratulations to Gaby and Aaron on their recent engagement!!
You'll all be glad to know I'm close to finishing my Master's degree and will be back in the full swing of training once that's done!
See you all soon,
Brenden Koh

Sports Nutrition tip from Gaby
Practice makes perfect!
Busselton 70.3 is one month away and now is the perfect time to start planning and practicing your nutrition strategy. Use your long rides, runs and brick sessions to test different types of gels, gummies and energy bars as well as the hydration you are planning for the day. This will help you decrease the likelihood of experiencing any discomfort on race day.
You can download my fact sheet to help you plan your strategy or read my blog post for more details about it. I'm also always happy to have a chat with you.
If you have any questions or you would like advice specific to your goals, feel free to email me at gaby.lnb@gmail.com .
