Head Coach: John Hallis
|
Commencing 1 July 2026, John Hallis has taken up the role of UWATC head coach. John is an accredited Triathlon Australia Development Coach and is in the final stages of completing the Elite/Performance Coaching certification. He is also an Ironman U Certified Coach and an ISCO-certified bike fitter. John has coached triathletes in both group settings, including TRIMOB and Fremantle Triathlon Club, and on an individual basis. His expertise includes running and cycling biomechanics, bike fitting, swim technique analysis, metabolic analysis and aerodynamic bike testing. In addition to his coaching qualifications, John brings extensive experience as an age group athlete, having previously competed in both Ironman and Ironman 70.3 World Championships and having completed a solo Rottnest Channel Swim. John will oversee the UWATC coaching program and will initially lead the Tuesday evening running interval session, with plans to introduce additional coached sessions as the season progresses. John will also offer individual programs through the club for members with specific goals or those seeking a more tailored coaching experience. Registration details will be available soon. Don't hesitate to get in touch for more information via committee@ |

Running & Riding
As well as paid coached sessions, our members also organise lots of social sessions - see below for weekly schedule of coached and uncoached sessions. During the offseason (July-September 2026), we're keeping it fairly light with one formal coached session and lots of less formal sessions (club-led coached and social). This will be expanded when the season starts in October and will focus on key races throughout the season.
Monthly Subscription for 1 coached session per week
- Sign up as a Member - $50 per month
- Sign up as a Non-member - $60 per month (for running only or if you are a member of another TWA affiliated club but would like to train with us)
- Sign up as a Student Member - $40 per month

Swimming
UWATC works with two swim squads. Both train Monday/Wednesday/Friday 5:30am-7:00am at UWA Aquatic Centre.
- Coached by Grant Landers - UWA Sport UniSwim Adult EnduroFit Squad. See the UWA Sport website for details and contact the Aquatics Centre on (08) 6488 2277 or at aquatics@sport.uwa.edu.au to register. It's not a requirement to be a member but UWATC members get around a 25% discount on fees. Let the Aquatics Centre know you're a UWATC member when registering to access the cheaper rate. Cost: $12/session for UWATC members paying via direct debit (2026).
- Coached by Steve Gleeson - Numbers limited by lane space - if you wish to join these sessions, please have a conversation with Steve to discuss availability and receive sign up link. Swimmers in this squad must be UWATC members. $140/month (2026).
