UWA Triathlon Junior Squad

As we have always valued a family friendly environment, we do not charge a club fee for juniors (12-19) signing up as Triathlon Australia members , so if you're looking at getting into the sport or looking at taking the next step in your training, don't hesitate to become part of the UWA Triathlon Club and don't hesitate to drag your parents along with you!!

The UWA Triathlon Junior Squad was esablished by former head coach Grant Landers who was heavily involved in the Triathlon WA Development Program over the 10 years from its inception.

Current Coach Steve Gleeson has also had over 10 years of experience developing juniors and performance athletes across the state, the county and the world.

The squad trains alongside the rest of the club and aims to develop triathletes through training, education and competition to compete successfully at age-appropriate competitions, including but not limited to:

  • State Championships – State Schools Championships, Interclub Championships, Sprint Distance Championships, Olympic Distance Championships, aquathlons & duathlons
  • National Championships – ITU Junior Championships, Schools Championships, Sprint Distance Championships, Olympic Distance Championships, University Championships
  • International Championships – Oceania Championships, Continental Cups, World Cups, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games

To train with the UWA junior squad, triathletes should:

  • Be a member of the UWA Triathlon Club
  • Communicate with Steve or any other athletes if they have any questions
  • Have fun and always try their best!
  • Listen to their bodies and maintain their health
