The Presidential Platform
Hello team UWA (last one from me ),
These are exciting times at the club with recent news that we have picked up the 2018/2019 TWA Club Event Series for the 2nd year running! Again an amazing achievement and a testament to all that raced for the club last season.
I hope you have all been keeping a close eye on the communications coming out with regards to the 2019/2020 membership information – If you haven’t, then double check your emails!
We talked about these changes at the AGM and how they would benefit our members over the course of the season, whilst also providing additional flexibility to friends who might want to just try out our training program so please make use of it.
We also sent out a reminder to ask for support in terms of volunteering time to help administer the club over the season. Please help out where you can.
As my time as president of the club comes to an end, I have taken time to reflect and be very thankful to all who have contributed to the club over many years.
In particular, I must call out the work of the committee past and present that have given their blood, sweat and tears to make the club what it is. When I first joined our committee it was a very different scene in terms of the way we operate, but despite many changes with coaching, and different people within the club some things like the great club feel have remained. Each year the club has had a volunteer committee steward the direction of how we should operate for the members, and it has been their efforts that have kept the club going.
We have a new president Gaby, voted in at the AGM who I’m confident will bring new leadership and life into the role and I look forward to continuing to be part of our club committee for many years to come. Please give her and the new committee all the support to continue running our club for yet another great season.
Train safe – See you out there.

Sports Nutrition tip from Gaby
How to stay on track during winter
Winter is here and with it, cravings for nice, warm and energy-dense meals spike. While eating a salad may not be that appetizing, healthy warm options are still available. Having porridge with fruit is a good breakfast alternative that will also help you increase your fibre intake. And vegetable soups are great to accompany your lunch or dinner, make sure to add lemon and garlic to help bolster your immune system.
If you have any questions or you would like advice specific to your goals, feel free to email me at gaby.lnb@gmail.com .
