The Presidential Platform

Hi team,

As we approach the pointy end of season I think it is always a good idea to reflect back on how you have gone and whether you have achieved what you set out to do. I hope that everyone who has been preparing for Busso has had a good leadup and my personal reflection will see me celebrating my long term taper coming to an end!

In terms of a club reflection this season was the first where we we have joined our AG and junior squads and i personally feel this has been a great move for the club as a whole. This has meant we have had a unified training squad with Grant as our Head Coach which from all accounts has been well received. As always though, if you have any feedback then please let us know as there are always ways to improve.

A reminder that the end of season windup/AGM on Sunday 19th March, from 2-5PM. There will be good food, drinks and great company and a great way to finish up the season and celebrate what we've achieved. All people involved with the club are encouraged to attend - including our swimmers, runners, cyclists, family, children etc! Please put it in your diary, register through the link below and encourage everyone to get there.

We will announce some minor changes to the way the club delivers training, to provide additional value to our financial members, as well as flexibility to those who want to train with us. I look forward to sharing these with you at the windup.

Part of the windup also includes the AGM where we need to discuss some of the inner workings of the club, and how the club fared over the year. We also will hold an election for office bearers for the club in the new season, and I would like to stress that a club like ours is run entirely on volunteer power, and that without volunteers, our club would not exist so please consider helping out if you can.

We are always looking for suitably keen individuals to take an active role in leading the club activities, and keep it a fun and vibrant place and operating what I think is one of the best Tri Clubs in WA. There are a number of committee positions opening up this year, including the role of club president and secretary as i have made a decision to step back from the role after 7 or 8 years. I will still be involved in the committee but feel that the time is right to make this change. We are actively looking for people to fill these roles so if you have some ideas about how we can run the club better, then contact me, or anyone on the committee currently and we will be really grateful to get you involved.

Of course if you want to get involved, but on a more casual/adhoc basis - we also need volunteers to get involved in one off events, spending time at BBQs, organising events, and as we all know, many hands make light work.

On a racing front, Rahul Jegatheva raced last night at ITU World Aquathlon Champs in Spain. I look forward to hearing more about the race. This weekend a lot from the group are either at Busselton half ironman or National School Triathlon Champs. Keep an eye out for some race reports in the coming weeks!

Thank you to everyone for your support over the season.

See you soon - (At the AGM!)

Brenden Koh
President
